I knew Josie would get adopted fast, but not this fast! Sob. Technically, she switched fosters: there is another foster family that is interested in her and very likely to adopt her, so after meeting them today, she went home with them and they will finish out the foster period. This leaves us free to foster again — I think the next transport is July 5!
This week was hot and punctuated by a couple of crazy thunderstorms. I was dragging at the beginning, still dealing with a mild cold, but I’m better now. Picking more strawberries, picking up puppy poo… That’s all that really stands out.

Today started off on a good note — saw a sign for an estate sale on our street! F, her friend and I popped in. Wow — it was a little time capsule of… well, seemingly the past 50 years. Check out the bicentennial wallpaper in one of the bedrooms:

For $5, I left with a picture frame for F’s softball picture, an unopened bottle of dried thyme, a sign that fits me and a can of the green beans that Tom likes:

Plus, F got an unopened comforter set for $10!
F went to the farmers’ market in my stead and brought home some green beans. Otherwise, I was just cleaning up inside and outside, doing wash and driving people places, and I went to an open house, for kicks. (N asked for a ride just now, and I snapped out. “ASK YOUR FATHER.”) I wanted to go to the pool but felt too lazy and settled for a cold shower.

I was thinking back to all the fretting I did over the tomato plants in the early spring. Here we are and everything worked out. I had extra plants in case some died; some did die; but I ended up with two, which is what I wanted, plus my freebie from the plant swap.
Meals this week:
Monday: leftover baked ziti from my parents’ dinner
Tuesday: wrap with chicken strips, garden lettuce and Chick Fil A sauce, carrots on the side

Wednesday: Stella Pizza
Thursday: Leftover buffalo chicken stromboli for me. All three kids went to Chipotle and took advantage of their World Cup BOGO entree offer.
Friday: Another chicken strip/lettuce/Chick Fil A sauce wrap
Saturday: garden lettuce and carrots with rotisserie chicken and Caesar dressing
Monday and Tuesday lunch: roast beef, provolone, mayo and garden lettuce on a roll
Wednesday: free lunch at work
Thursday and Friday: bought lunch
Spending: $54 on T’s parking ticket with my car; $25 to pay off school lunch balances; $17 on a tag for the dog (which will now be for the next foster (it just says “Foster Pup”)). Knock on wood, no big expenses right now, but F’s leadership camp looms.
Sitting out back now enjoying the cool breeze and the smells of my neighbors cooking out. Tomorrow’s plan is to visit Grandmom M, and N and F have a choir concert in the evening. Tom is coming back soon with a couple of cold beers, which will be a perfect ending til this day… although someone will have to do the last ride of the night: picking up F from the St. Charles Carnival, 15 minutes away.
I have off this coming Friday — beach day?
