Yesterday Tom, F and I took part in the No Kings March. It felt good to do something and be surrounded by like-minded folks. But I wish there was more I could do. It does seem now that the president has realized that deporting all the people who grow our food is dumb (duh), so… there’s that.

The garden is slowly ramping up. The strawberry plants are sending out runners. The beans are sending out tendrils. Out front, the hostas have sent up flower stalks, some of the snapdragons are blooming and the volunteer pumpkins have flowers.

I picked a bunch of carrots Thursday night (Little Finger) and some Saturday (Scarlet Nantes). None were all that big; hopefully the remaining ones will grow more now that they’ve been thinned out. I should have done that a while ago.

The hydrangea is such a deep pink this year, with some blooms shading towards purple. In the past they’ve been a paler pink.

For dinner yesterday, I made hot dogs wrapped in puff pastry, plus some mashed potatoes and salad. I just felt like doing something different.

The salad was just lettuce and carrots from the garden.
Today we’re being to treated to dinner out by my parents for Father’s Day. I’m excited to give my dad the things we bought him at the Italian Festival 🇮🇹.
I need to bake bread but have forgotten on two shopping trips now to get more yeast. I’ve got a couple other things to do today but not much. Upcoming: one more week of appointments, 8th grade pool party, a midday school concert, some senior events, then two graduations! I took off Wednesday -Friday, thankfully! And then… the calendar quiets down considerably.
Last week I went to F’s midday choir concert with my dad. They sounded so good! I’m so glad she is continuing choir in HS.
Meals this week:
Monday: “Chicken fries,” mashed potatoes, green beans
Tuesday: Chicken Caesar salad

Wednesday: Stella Pizza and Caesar salad

Thursday: Chicken Parm, carrots

Friday: PJ’s Pub to celebrate T returning home safely from Puerto Rico and to hear his stories.
Lunches: Left work early on Tuesday and had a quick pizza date with Tom; free lunch at work on Wednesday; leftover chicken Parm on Friday.
Some wins:
- My $100 contacts rebate is on its way
- I got another 24 oz Wawa coffee for $1.
- We received a free dessert at PJs since it was Tom’s birthday month.
- Snagged some good deals at Acme yesterday.
Headed outside now to tie up some of the sprawling tomato plants. It’s been another cool and rainy weekend, which is buying me some more time for my carrots and lettuce.
I need to make a list of things we want to do this summer. One of them is checking out the Cramer Hill Waterfront Park, and also snagging a spot on a tour of Petty’s Island. I wouldn’t mind doing some camping somewhere, and there’s an ice cream spot I want to travel to. I think a day trip to the Delaware beaches and/or Cape Henlopen might be fun. And F wants to go to Six Flags.
